Jamario Moon appears to be, dare I say ... on the rise again? Ahh. I kill me. Sorry. Anyway, Moon scored 11 points with five boards plus a block and steal each last night and is now seeing a whopping 38.6 minutes per game through January. Yes, it is early, but it sure seems like the Raptors do not want to let his talents ... wane on the bench? Okay, okay, I'm done. Seriously though, if he got dropped go add him. Or better yet, just trade for him. He's a roto-gold mine with his block and steal numbers, he hustles every night, and you get to care about your team. That's important sometimes.
Hot Cakes
J.R. Smith sighting last night -- the gunner scored 21 points for his first plus-twomp game since November 30, and only his third of the season. He did it in 28 minutes, which means he still has yet to crack 30 on the season; his fantasy value has been limited as a three point specialist but with Nene Hilario likely out for an extended period of time following the removal of a testicular tumor and Kenyon Martin dealing with a staph infection, Smith could start seeing some minutes. Make a move for him now before the competition figures out what's going on.
So, this LeBron James guy, he is some kinda good huh? You probably want to think about starting him. I hate giving
Not a good sign for waiver vultures as Chris Duhon laid a total egg with Kirk Hinrich missing his first game of the season last night. Duhon started and saw 32 minutes, but only managed seven points, five dimes and four turnovers. Ugh. If Hinrich is out for an extended period of time, you obviously want the former Dookie, but he is usually pretty erratic whenever he is thrust into a starting role.
Someone tell me how the Wizards go from beating the Celtics to losing to the Knicks in less than 48 hours. Oh. Right. No point guard and the Knicks shot 51 percent from the floor. The fantasy lesson? If DeShawn Stevenson has to sweat dishing the rock, he is not doing as much thieving or hawking of it. Antonio Daniels is dealing with a sore knee, so keep Fred Jones and Jamal Crawford in the lineup for Friday's backend of the home and home.
The All-Star Shimmy hasn't died just quite yet, with Antoine Walker going for 26 and 10 against the Warriors last night. 'Toine did not start, as Ryan Gomes and Rashad McCants took the starting forward slots. That's right. Still no Craig Smith. I am not going to go out on a limb and call McCants a fraud (see his four for 12 against Golden State last night). Maybe I am bitter about Saturday's game, but that does not make McCants any more of a viable fantasy option than before. If he gets hot, sell high. Same with Walker. Love the shimmy, but he is old.
Another double figure night for Thaddeus Young who has been rumored to be a candidate for a starting gig (and by people other than me!). Get in while the getting is good folks, and snatch him up. Willie Green is vastly overrated by the 76er organization. Louis Williams is worth keeping an eye on as well, especially as the trade deadline approaches. He had 18 points, six assists and three steals last night and if Andre Miller gets moved to a point guard needy contender (paging the Orlando Magic) then Williams would be a superb fantasy start.
