Welcome back to another addition of Coinflips, where we help you make the tough decisions regarding your lineup (or, previously, your draft). Now, the regular season will work a little bit differently -- whereas you were deciding between Marshawn Lynch and Larry Johnson in your draft, you're probably not doing that in your lineup ... for obvious reasons.Instead, what we're gonna do is take a tougher matchup for an upper tier guy and an easier matchup for a lower tier guy and help you pick who to start. For example, reader Eric writes in asking how to decide between Plaxico Burress, Torry Holt and Nate Burleson (pick two). A conundrum indeed.
And since he was kind enough to contact us (which you can do with any of your lineup choices!), we're gonna answer it as our first regular season coinflip.
Plaxico Burress (NYG, v. WAS) or Nate Burleson (SEA, at BUF)
I really, really, really want to say Plax here. (Obviously, Holt's already in; you won't see me leave him out.) After all, he only had eight catches, 111 yards and one touchdown in two games against the Redskins last year, and Burleson is all the Seahawks have. However, Matt Hasselbeck is rusty (self-proclaimed) and as my colleague Matt Snyder argued elsewhere, the Giants should come out swinging and there's too good a chance Plax finds the end zone to risk a little upside from Nate.
Derek Anderson (CLE, v. DAL) or Kurt Warner (ARI, @ SF)
Well done, sir! You drafted Anderson and Warner and now that Anderson is concussed and unable to play, it's an easy decision ... oh right. He's back. Mmmmmmnnnnnnoooogod. (Such a noise is reflective of a lineup
setting nightmare.) Dallas has the better defense and Warner is going head-to-head with old coach Mike Martz in what should be a shootout. So everyone -- everyone, I say -- will instruct you to start Warner. Not. So. Fast. My. Friend.Anderson is going to play, and he has Braylon Edwards and Donte' Stallworth. Meanwhile, the Cardinals defense is going to handle the daunting task of shutting down J.T. O'Sullivan and then it will be Edgerrin James time. Warner will throw a touchdown and about 225 yards, but I see Anderson scoring big time.
Ryan Grant (GB, v. MIN) or Selvin Young (DEN, at OAK)
Ryan Grant was your second- or third-round pick, I would imagine. Young was probably not. But here we are, in the first week and all of sudden, Grant looks like a terrifying start. He's going against Minnesota, as tough a run defense as there is, and he didn't practice Tuesday. Young has Andre Hall breathing down his neck (kind of) but he gets Oakland. Lynch v. Young would be a tougher flip, but I can't advise you to sit Lynch.
I can, however, tell you to sit Grant.

wow... I hope this guy doesnt talk the same way that you writes. I was an averarage article and mabey I could agree with what he was trying to say but throwing in ''conundrum", "mmmmmmmnnnogood" , "largo" and then trying to force them into those paragraphs like that makes the article a little hard to follow. Who is the "beast" that he is refering to at the end ? And who is "snyds"? I understand what he was saying and meant in his article ,but will the average "joe" that loves football be able to just read right through without stopping to figure out what this guy is trying to say.. My advice to this guy, dude you are obviously a football "know it all" so just keep it simple.

It's just like a Cowboy's fan to rip the writing style of others.
Dee obviously thinks that syntax has to do with synthetic motor oil because his post lacks "it." (Look it up in Webster's)
Also, Dee dude spells as well as Romo wins playoff games.
Excellent article by the OP!!!

I see that your name "hater" obiously needs no explaination. At least I did not resort to name calling ( like you did to me) I was just trying to say that the guys article may have been a little hard for a layman to read thats all.And honestly ,how dumb are you to imply that just because someone is a professional writer that they are immune from criticism ? His whole job is based on criticizing others ! You idiot . You are obviously that guys boyfriend so if I hurt you or anyones feelings then I will be the bigger man and say "my bad".
