Injuries To Watch: Week 1

Every week when the dinner bell rings on Friday evening, we'll be here to provide you a comprehensive injury report for the NFL weekend to follow. For those injuries that go right down to the wire, drop by our live Fantasy Fanhouse experts live chat from 10 am to 1 pm every Sunday and we'll take care of you on those bloody game-time decisions. As always, please feel free to chime in with opinions, updates, and rumors in the comments.

The Baltimore Ravens

Todd Heap - Heap comes into the weekend listed as probable and he practiced in limited workouts Thursday. He should be fine to go on Sunday.

Willis McGahee - You asked for it suckas. Get ready for a lot of this throughout 2008. Willis practiced Monday, but then lightened the load on Wednesday and Thursday making him an iffy "Q" for Sunday. Check back at game-time, but coach John Harbaugh said he isn't counting on McGahee. Ultimately, I suspect he will play, but Ray Rice will go if McGahee sits.

Kyle Boller - In case you suck at paying attention, Boller is out for the season.

The Buffalo Bills

Trent Edwards - Edwards looks fine to go on Sunday, which is good, because he has a thigh bruise. Wuss.

The Carolina Panthers

D.J. Hackett - D.J. returned to practice and is set to go, despite his month reprieve for a toe injury.

The Chicago Bears

Desmond Clark - In case you are participating in one of those gruesome 48 team leagues, Clark looks ready to go despite being listed as Questionable with a bum knee. Olsen is probably a better start anyway.

The Cincinnati Bengals

Carson Palmer - Palmer's broken nose is a non-issue, unless of course he is on Vicodin, in which case he could post extra huge Favre-like numbers.

Chad Johnson Ocho Cinco - Johnson participated in practice at full speed Wednesday and Thursday and claims he is 100%.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh - The Hammy is fine. No reason to worry.

Kenny Watson - Adding to the Bengals woes, Watson practiced in a limited capacity on Thursday due to (what else?)a hamstring injury. The Bengals backfield is really turning out to be one of the most interesting situations of 2008 with Chris Perry looking like the clear benefactor.

The Cleveland Browns

Derek Anderson - The concussion is a thing of the past and Anderson is good to go.

Braylon Edwards - Braylon participated in practice at full tilt. He should be ready to go 100% on Sunday. The Browns removed him from the injury report on Thursday.

Jamal Lewis - This list is starting look pretty ugly for Cleveland. Jamal Lewis also practiced in limited participation on Wednesday and Thursday, but is good to go for Sunday. Not a great #1 option, but keep him in the roster for sure for now.

The Denver Broncos

Darrell Jackson - Jackson is nursing an ankle sprain, but expect him to do whatever it takes to make due on his one shot at a starting job, while Brandon Marshall is sitting out.

The Detroit Lions

Rudi Johnson - Bags or no bags, Rudi expects to play through his hamstring strain on Sunday against Atlanta.

The Green Bay Packers

Ryan Grant - Grant practiced on Thursday and expects to be ready on Monday night for Green Bay despite a hamstring strain. He is expected to carry a full load.

The Houston Texans

Ahman Green - Ahman Green practiced at full speed (relatively speaking) and is ready to go 100% for the opener. Don't worry, it's only a matter of time.

The Indianapolis Colts

Peyton Manning - There's a lot of politicking involved here, so be wary. Dungy claims Peyton is good as new, but he is playing without his best lineman and center, Jeff Saturday. Let's wait and see how many times Manning gets Bursa sacked (yes, I do get paid do write this).

The Jacksonville Jaguars

Maurice Jones-Drew - MJD practiced all week and showed no serious side effects from his ankle ding. He'll be there Sunday for 15 to 20.

Reggie Williams - Listed as questionable, Williams looks like a game-time decision and has not played all week.

Jerry Porter - Porter participated in practice Wednesday, but sat on Thursday. Still, we think he should be good to go on Sunday. With Williams out, Porter will hopefully re-assert himself yet again as at least a fantasy bench receiver.

The Kansas City Chiefs

Kolby Smith - A new addition to the injury report as of Friday, Smith sat out of practice on Thursday with a sore back. He is listed as probable and should be ready to spell Larry Johnson as needed.

The Miami Dolphins

Ronnie Brown - Brown is probable, but the knee is not 100%. He'll play, but the question on everyone's mind is will Ricky Williams steal his carries and ultimately, the show.

The Minnesota Vikings

Tavaris Jackson - I know everybody is watching this one with eager anticipation. Rest easy though folks, Tavaris looks ready to go.

The New England Patriots

Ben Watson - Can't say for sure given the highly classified nature of Watson's knee injury, but he has not played all week. I'd look for another option.

Tom Brady - Brady practiced and stated that he is ready to rock. I don't see any reason to worry.

The New Orleans Saints

Deuce McAllister - Do people actually still draft Deuce? Just kidding, despite some lingering knee issues, Deuce looks good to go for the committee in New Orleans.

The New York Jets

Laveranues Coles - Coles is not full speed, but practiced full speed on Thursday after a light Wednesday. He'll be ready to go. The real question is who will become Favre's favorite receiver? I'm guessing Crotch.

The Oakland Raiders

Javon Walker - Walker is questionable with a not-so-hot outlook on his hamstring injury. He doesn't deserve a roster spot at this point.

The Philadelphia Eagles

Reggie Brown - Brown practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday and is listed as questionable. Pick someone better next time.

The San Diego Chargers

Antonio Gates - Gates' toe looks like a bit of a problem. He expects to play, but mentioned that he does not expect to make much of a contribution. Liar.

The Seattle Seahawks

Deion Branch - The surgically repaired knee is still a work in progress, but Branch started work this week, so he might be a waiver wire pickup in a month or so. He seems to be getting close.

Bobby Engram - Engram has a broken bone in his shoulder and will miss around six weeks.

The Tampa Bay Bucs

Joey Galloway - Galloway says he's ready, so assuming Gruden gives the A-OK, he should be fine for Sunday.

Jeff Garcia - Garcia earned a spot on the injury report on Friday with a swollen pinky. That's gotta be a bit embarrassing. Garcia's little piggy is not expected to hurt his chances of playing, but his accuracy will probably be impacted.

The Tennessee Titans

Vince Young - VC is ready to play. He practiced without the wrap on his hand. It is the throwing hand though, so don't get your hopes up for a good performance.
