Well, the first Week of Fantasy Football is in the books and you're either sitting pretty, content or your panicking. It's mid-week so the waiver wire has probably already been picked over and if you lost Tom Brady desperation is probably outweighing depression at this very moment. That said, either way most people are probably not happy about one or more of their supposed "prized" draft picks. Yup, that's right it's time to make a deal. As a rule of thumb, I'm never one to urge trades after only one week of play. Generally speaking, it's simply too small of a sample to judge the long term production of your short term investments. However, I'm throwing that logic out the window right now. Why? Well, for starters because I'm a little panicked over the artist now known as Chad Ocho Cinco and I'm ready to make that deal go down.
And it just so happens that I've found a potential trade with the Torry Holt owner in my league that is respectively panicking over Holt. Like any major decision, I'm simply going to have to weigh the pros and cons of any such deal and hope to come to the best conclusion possible. Of course, I might need a little help, as I'm always skeptical about pulling the trigger on any Fantasy trade. I'm always paranoid that I'm getting taken.
Anyhow, that's why I'm opening it up to comments section for any ounce of feedback on a Torry Holt for Chad Ocho Cinco straight up deal. Believe me, this must be done after Ocho laid a 1 for 22 and Holt a 1 for 9 stinker this past weekend. So think, who wins the trade? Why would anyone make the trade? Aren't both of these guys toast? Why the lateral movement? Yes, I understand exactly your voices of concern/reason. Well, let's gander at the upside and downside of each dude...shall we?
Chad Ocho Cinco – Really do I want to keep this guy around?
Pros...
-Entertainment purposes. It's always been a treat to watch Chad's TD antics/celebrations and feel the pride of saying "that dude is on my Fantasy team."
-Big Game Capability: If there's one thing you can always count on from Ocho Cinco it's the "huge" game. I'm not saying it happens every single week, but he's a sure bet to have a 200 yard or 3 TD game at some point.
-He's Got Something to Prove: The summer of turmoil and uncertainty should be all he needs to serve him as motivation. That and the thought of being able to leverage more in his quest for a new contract.
Cons...
-Carson Palmer: No need to argue here, Carson Palmer looked atrocious against the Ravens. Is he really that bad? I'm not sure if it's him or the line, but he's gradually gotten worse in the past few seasons.
-The Shoulder Injury: Who wouldn't be turned off by this? It's still questionable if he is going to make it through an entire season.
-The Bengals Stink: Another season of misery from Marvin Lewis and the Bungals could lead to an epic meltdown greater than T.O proportions for Chad. You can almost see the landslide picking up steam.
-Is he even still the #1 on his own team?
Tory Holt – Really how much gas is left in the tank?

Pros
-Consistency: He is the king when it comes to being reliable in Fantasy terms.
-Schedule: He does get to feast against the average NFC West foes six times a season.
-Greatest Show on Turf: Is that living in the past? Well, Bulger is still around and I guess I trust Bulger slightly more than Palmer this year. And I never imagined I'd ever say that.
Cons...
-Isn't he Turning 50 Soon? No, but he sure is getting old...right?
-Nobody to Help Him: There is no Isaac Bruce or even Drew Bennett in the fold for that matter.
-Steady Decline: Holt has been a no-show in the Fantasy Playoffs dating back to 2005. He's got just one TD over weeks 15 and 16 in the past three years. How is that going to help when it matters most?
-Did I mention the Rams absolutely stink?
OK, you've heard the tale of the tape from both sides now the decision is yours. Remember, I am considering dealing Chad Johnson for Torry Holt. Should I do it or not? Your call. Think it over and choose wisely.
"Since it costs a lot to win and even more to lose. You and me better spend some time, wondering just what to choose."

i personally would do the trade. i did a trade plax for Holt and Johnson and a 3rd round pick (keeper league) but i have looked at johnsons schedule and it looks tough. i think Holt can still do ok so i would go for the trade

Do it. Holt may drop in production, but isn't it likely Ocho will get suspended or tossed at some point this year? I think Holt is a safer choice. He can make great plays so he won't be as limited by being the only option as, say, Steve Smith was last year.

Think your situation is a little shaky? Try having to deal with both of them. 2 years ago the would have made up the best WR core in most fantasy leagues. Now I cant get a deal to get rid of either of them.

Do the trade. Holt is a #1 receiver with, you said it, consistency. Too many unknowns with Ocho: his shoulder, Palmer and is he even the best WR on his team? I would rather have the Housh than Chad J, more consistent.

i had ocho cinco and traded him before the first week. just with the shoulder and how inconsistent the bengals are, i figured i'd be better off getting another #1 receiver. I also have torry holt, and seeing how pitiful the rams are looking, i figured he'd just be keeping a spot on my bench, so i'm trading him for reggie wayne. The only way i see it, is you either try and luck out with #85, or you just pick up a few points every week with holt. i'd keep chad, and try and find someone else willing to take a chance on him.
