Week 11 Fantasy Football Recap: Thought and Observations Moving Forward

Like we always do 'bout this time. It's Monday night and while that still means there's action left on the table, it's also time to break down the weekend that was. For most it's either depression, anger, joy, misery or anxiety for MNF. Well, I'm not sure what emotions you run through as it relates to fantasy football. Either way, we're here as always to give the weekly recap.

For some, this was a make-or-break weekend and they've either gone for broke or have lived to see another day. And with that, let's take the weekly pulse and share some thoughts/trends moving forward.

Matt Cassel has arrived, somewhat. Regardless, if he was still available on your waiver wire, chances are he's gone after his Thursday night outburst. I still say proceed with caution.

The obligatory note to remind you that Thomas Jones can't be stopped this season. And now a hand for that impressive Jets offensive line coming together.

Dustin Keller, yes he's worth starting from here on out if you don't own Gonzo, Gates or Witten.

And so much for the BenJarvus Green-Ellis era. That was fun.

Jay Cutler and Philip Rivers remain sworn enemies to each other and amongst fantasy football enthusiasts. Both are consistently inconsistent. Huge numbers one week and duds the next.

Kerry Collins to Justin Gage, book it. My best guess is you weren't starting either, but you may want to consider Gage.

Michael Turner continues to abuse average-to-poor run defenses at home, but struggles against tougher defenses. Let's run that on repeat, shall we?

Was that Tatum Bell running the ball for the Broncos? Yes, it was, but it was Peyton Hillis who got majority of the touches and scored the points. Of course, next week it could be Mike Anderson who gets the Denver running back glory.

Welcome back T.J Houshmandzadeh. It's been a while. Now, I'll suggest you trade away the guy you picked to be your No. 1 receiver, because he's just not that kind of guy this year.

Kevin Smith is not afraid of any matchup. He's worth considering every Sunday unless you have better options.

There is an APB out on the fantasy career of Brian Westbrook. It's gone missing for several weeks.

Tyler Thigpen, start him.

Was that really Jeremy Shockey on Sunday? Yes, he grabbed six passes, but dropped a few other critical ones. Is he working his way back into favor? Hmm. Um, so much for the resurgence of Marques Colston. There are just too many mouths to feed in New Orleans. And now Reggie Bush is coming back.

Yawn. Brandon Jacobs batters another defense. Yawn.

Is it time to bring the Cadillac out of the shop in Tampa Bay? The schedule favors the Bucs' running game down the stretch and with the news of Earnest Graham's season being pretty much over, you have to wonder about Cadillac Williams and his potential value for the stretch run.

Who would ever suggest you bail out on Marion Barber? Seriously, that guy is a monster and, with Tony Romo back, it's only going to help the Cowboys' running game.

And finally, Chad Pennington delivers a fantasy stinker by failing to top 200 yards or throw a touchdown pass.

Meanwhile, Ronnie Brown goes over 100 yards for the first time since Week 5.

There was a Darren McFadden sighting on Sunday, but that only lasted three carries. Maybe we're gonna have to wait until next year for Run DMC.

Your fantasy co-MVPs Kurt Warner and Anquan Boldin. Oh yeah, and Larry Fitzgerald ain't all that bad either. Seriously though, who are you starting over Warner from here on out? Who? Manning, maybe, but I say no. It's Warner. He's the best.

Shaun Hill is now worthy of starting consideration. Yes, it was the Rams, but dude was completely unstoppable.

And for those of you who still think the Rams have a favorable schedule and could help pull off a title for you in Weeks 15 and 16, dream on. That team is a disaster.

Frank Gore is a beast. And he's on pace to have his best fantasy season ever.

Yes, the Colts are back. We can now remove Joseph Addai and Marvin Harrison from the back of those milk cartons. And while we're here, if you see Peyton Manning on the horizon as an opponent, look the (bleep) out! Manning is locked in right now and is most likely going to carry home a few fantasy trophies. That said, take note of Manning's misery against San Diego (who the Colts play this weekend). You may recall he threw a career high SIX interceptions last season in San Diego. Food for thought.

Hines Ward continues to outshine his more hyped buddy Santonio Holmes.

Welcome back Ryan Grant. You've got some more work to do to appease the owners who drafted you in the second round. Yet, the colder it gets the more his workload should increase.

L.T. ran hard and with purpose yesterday, but with mixed results. Still though, it's hard to say goodbye to yesterday and/or write off the end of L.T's fantasy career.

I pegged Jonathan Stewart as a sneak play this weekend and he lived up to the part. Now, both he and DeAngelo Williams will split carries from here on out. Your guess is as good as mine. However, Williams still holds the slight upper hand.

Lastly, be sure to start any and all running backs that face the Lions, even third-stringers.
