As in comedy, all things fantasy basketball come in fives. In finishing my positional previews I now give you my list of the Top 50 point guards. There is very little surprise as to who sits at the top of the list. That honor goes to the potential number one overall pick -- Chris Paul. Thanks to his high assist and steal totals, Paul once again finished with fantasy MVP honors in '08-'09. There is a premium price to pay for point guards this year. Only 14 players dished more than 500 total assists last season, two of whom are not eligible at the point. On the defensive side of the ball, 20 players posted more than 100 steals -- half were point guards. On the court they're leaders. Off the court they're freaks. Actually, I have no proof of that. What I do have is a list!
The following rankings are based on a standard 8-category, head-to-head (H2H) scoring system: points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, three-pointers, FG% and FT%. All positional eligibility is based on Fleaflicker's fantasy basketball game. Sign up today, ya'll!

- Chris Paul is the top point guard in the league. No questions about it. However...
- I could see Deron Williams, Steve Nash, and Jose Calderon all posting double-digit assist totals.
- Jason Kidd cares not about scoring points. For years now it seems like we've been marking down J-Kidd as the point guard most likely to breakdown. I've learned my lesson. I'm no longer betting against him.
- Devin Harris, congratulations: you are now the proud owner of the New Jersey Nets offense. Harris is in line for another 20-plus points per game season. Just know that you'll have to live with his low FG%.
- Let the debate begin -- Rajon Rondo or Derrick Rose? I give Rondo the edge for his defensive numbers and plus-FG%. I can see taking Rose if you want more of a scoring point guard. Of course if one of them happens to develop a three-point shot, that changes everything.
- Tony Parker is a better on-the-court basketball player than he is a fantasy baller. He doesn't make enough threes, steal enough balls, or shoot a high enough FT%. He still makes an excellent selection as your second point guard, though.
- Nate McMillan said he might be bringing Andre Miller off the bench to start the season. And as if that wasn't bad enough, Andre Miller failed the team's summer conditioning test. Given that they already have Steve Blake on their roster, there are a lot of reasons to drop Miller down a few slots.
- T.J. Ford is in a contract year. He also no longer has Jarrett Jack breathing down his neck. Ford makes a lot of sense in the mid-rounds if you're looking for a point who dishes, steals and scores. I like Ford at his current value. The only problem is that he too has had an injured past. But then again, who doesn't. Right?
- Mario Chalmers.
- Mike Bibby? Jamal Crawford? I think they're going to split the difference in Atlanta. Neither is a first or second point guard. At least not until one or the other steps forward and takes the bulk of the minutes.
- Nate Robinson is an attractive pick in New York, though I don't think he lasts in the Big Apple for the duration of the season. At the same time, Chris Duhon completely wore down in the second half of the '08-'09 season. Too much run-and-gun for his legs to handle. Both Robinson and Duhon have value, I'm just not wild about either, especially given the the necessity of the Knicks to get a little creative to make some cap space this season. I'm not sure either player is in the Knicks future plans.
- Who among us isn't intrigued by Brandon Jennings? He was right about one thing -- he'll make a better rookie than Ricky Rubio. I just don't know how long Scott Skiles will tolerate his shooting and defensive deficiencies. Having to compete with Luke Ridnour, I suspect Jennings will be on a short leash. Ramon Sessions, would you like to weigh in?
- C.J. Watson and Stephen Curry should garner some attention. Really anyone who plays Nellie-ball should get a look. Just don't expect any consistency.
- It gets a little thin at the end of the list. I'm going to be honest with you, there are a few of those guys who I'm not touching. I just hope I'm not that desperate in a 10- or 12-team league that I have to draft Derek Fisher.
- Will Bynum should/could be moved up the list. He's having a huge preseason. My only concern is that with Rodney Stuckey, Richard Hamilton and Ben Gordon already in the backcourt, how does Bynum get more than 12-15 minutes? Anyone?
